Taunton's nets national championship title

17/05/2011
The Taunton’s College Under 19 women’s basketball team has won the British Colleges National Championships held at The Bristol Academy of Sport.
Taunton’s was undefeated in its pool and beat one of the favourites, Moulton College, in the semi-final before dominating their final match against Tyne Met to win 21 - 2.
“All the games were just one period of 10 minutes. This format suited our all action full court press defence style and helped us go on to gain the title,” says coach Howard Tear.
This is an outstanding achievement for the team and the college. With National League players Kinga and Aneta Golik injured and having limited court time the rest of the squad put in an inspired performance led by captain Tanya Surtees and the excellent marking of Lavinia Nkomo.
This has been a remarkable season for the team. They have already won the Hampshire Colleges League and Cup double without losing a game and defeated Totton College 76-46 in the cup final.
