From studies to festival stage

20/09/2011
A Taunton’s student swapped books for microphones on the Isle of Wight Festival Garden Stage.
Charley Macaulay, a second year BTEC National Diploma Music student performed a funky pop set at the annual festival which attracts 80,000 spectators.
But she is no stranger to the stage, regularly performing for her BTEC course at music venues around Southampton such as The Talking Heads and Joiners. Charley even has her own residency at The Blue Keys in Southampton and was lucky enough to perform at Glastonbury.
Charley forms part of the growing popular music provision at Taunton’s, coming from Redbridge Community School and applying to study at ACM (Academy for Contemporary Music). Her teacher and Head of Music at Taunton’s Paul Swindale said: “we are very proud of what Charley has achieved and hope it will be a step to bigger and better things to enhance her career.”
