Two of the college’s music ensembles have been invited to the national final of Music for Youth in Birmingham in July.

The brass quintet has been invited to perform in the Senior Chamber Ensembles category in Birmingham on Thursday 8th July and pop/rock group The Macaulays will be at Birmingham's O2 Arena on Wednesday 7th July.

“This is excellent news that continues our long association with the largest youth music festival in Europe,” says Taunton’s Director of Music Paul Swindale.

The successful college musicians impressed the judges when they took part in the regional round of Music for Youth held at Taunton’s in March.

The brass quintet comprises Lucy Gray (formerly Sholing), Will Anderson (formerly Cantell), Lucy Johnston (formerly Bitterne Park), Rachel Gray (formerly St Anne’s) and James Gray (formerly Upper Shirley High).

The Macaulays are made up of Charley Macaulay (formerly Redbridge), David Rice (formerly Upper Shirley High), Chris Smith (formerly Toynbee), David Orton (formerly The Kings School) and Tom James (formerly Upper Shirley High).
