Introduction from the Principal

Alice Wrighton Taunton's Principal

Taunton’s has so much to celebrate: last year, as the Principal I was thrilled and very proud to share in the excitement of students, parents and staff on Results Day after another year of outstanding achievement across the board. We believe in excellence and opportunity for all: so, whatever your talents, interests and ambitions the college can help you to develop and succeed.

I hope that this website will give you a clear picture of the wide range of exciting opportunities that Taunton’s has to offer, that it will inspire you to aim high and help you to decide upon a programme of study which will meet your needs and aspirations.

Taunton’s is a great place to be and as you look through our website you will also get a sense of what it will be like to be part of our learning community. Students are the most important people here. We will have high expectations of you, but we never forget that your future depends on us and upon the quality of teaching and support you receive while you are here.

As a successful sixth form college we specialise in meeting the needs of all young people in the 16-19 age group. As well as excellent learning support facilities we have outstanding provision for the Gifted and Talented, having developed a Sixth Form Academy specifically to meet the needs of and to challenge the most able students. Our Academy of Sport has a national reputation, providing professional standards of sports coaching and our School of Music is acknowledged to be a centre of excellence.

Taunton's has a great future ahead and I want you to be part of that future. I encourage you to make us your first choice college for 2012. Don’t just rely on this website for information, please come and look around the college at one of our Open Evenings and talk to current students and staff. The college is a vibrant, cheerful and friendly community and I know that you will not be disappointed.

I look forward to welcoming you to Taunton's College.

Alice Wrighton, Principal
