British Colleges SportWhat is BCS?
British Colleges Sport (BCS) was formed in 1978 and is an association set up to encourage and enable students from age 16-19 within the further education sector to develop their potential sporting abilities by providing high quality sporting opportunities and services.

BCS provides competition at local, regional and national level in more than 15 sports. Across England, Scotland and Wales over 270 colleges are affiliated to BCS under the regional structure for sport and active recreation across the country.

Here at Taunton’s we’ve been entering teams in the BCS regional championships for over 15 years in a range of different sports. During these 15 years we have represented the Southeast in the British Colleges finals in sports such as:

  • Netball
  • Women’s Basketball
  • Men’s Basketball
  • Trampolining
  • Volleyball
  • Cross Country
  • Table Tennis
  • Football

In this year’s competition, we were the most successful college in the region, winning medals including gold in trampolining and table tennis. These successes led to the Southeast region winning overall and the Wilkinson Sword trophy being returned to the region for the 3rd year in a row.

From Taunton’s we had representatives from our women’s basketball academy, our trampolining academy and both mixed doubles table tennis and men’s table tennis.
