Summary

The aim of this course is to enable you to communicate at a basic level in Spanish.  The course is designed for beginners and is an ideal qualification for all those who want to travel abroad, particularly useful for those who want to work in vocational areas.

Requirements

A good memory, an interest in another culture, and above all, enthusiasm and the desire to communicate,

because:

  • You will be assessed in all four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
  • You will study various topics related to work situations and acquire a wide range of basic vocabulary.

Course Content

 

Reading basic text in familiar and predictable work situations

Speaking using basic language words in familiar and predictable work situations

Understanding basic spoken words in familiar and predictable work situations

Writing basic text in familiar and predictable work situations.

What else do I need to know?

 

This is a course for complete beginners consisting of three hours of contact time a week.  Dialogues and role-plays will involve group and pair work (face-to-face or on the telephone).  Listening will often be done individually in the laboratory.  Homework will consist of vocabulary learning and short written tasks.  You will have access to listening positions in classroom, a range of resources such as authentic material, audio and DVDs.

Any subjects combine well with this course and it provides a good basis for further studies at GCSE Level.
