What else do I need to know?

You need an interest in at least two sports and be willing to participate in a range of practical activities. It is useful but not essential to be involved in sport at college. Students must be prepared to develop a sense of responsibility towards the learning process and have the ability to manage their time. The course is assignment based with a variety of assessment activities including presentations, discussions, observations and video analysis.

Students will have the opportunities to access basic coaching awards and First Aid.

The BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport (Development, Coaching and Fitness) is a full-time course and a Pass is equivalent to three passes at A level and offers a direct route to university. The qualification is recognised by the leisure industry and will aid employment in this sector.

The college has links with universities, local employers and has supported several students in gaining access to sports scholarships in the USA.

This course will often be chosen by members of the “Academy of Sport”. Our Academy enables students to develop their performance and qualifications to an appropriate high level. Please pick up a leaflet and an application form.
