We celebrate success

At the end of Alice Wrighton’s first year as Principal at Taunton’s the college celebrated another record year of results. Further improvements to success rates mean that Taunton’s is consolidating its position as an irresistible choice for 6th Form education in the City of Southampton.

“Congratulations to students and to all those parents and guardians who helped them through the times of pressure, “ says Alice Wrighton. “ The staff here have done a brilliant job - I’ve been so impressed with their professionalism and commitment to each individual student. Thanks and well done to them, and to our colleagues in primary and secondary schools who worked so hard with these students before they came to us: these are their successes as well.”

“We know how hard our students have worked to achieve qualifications which we and they should be proud of and which will support them in their progression to the next stage,” says Deputy Principal Matt Atkinson. “We are particularly pleased with the significant increase in AS level pass rates, bucking the national trend.”

At A level the college’s pass rate was 97%, with two thirds of subjects achieving 100% pass rate. International Baccalaureate (IB) results were also excellent: students gained an average UCAS points score equivalent to 4 grade As at A level. Many students will be going on to study at some of the most prestigious universities in the country.
